I hope everyone has enjoyed the rest of summer, but I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to Fall. It's one of my favorite times of the year and I can't wait to share with you some new seasonal items to *Treat Yourself* to.

Cupcakes, Cookies & Chords

Last month sure was a whirlwind! I had the pleasure of catering two events for The First Families of my church. One Friday evening I attended my Pastor's 40th Birthday Celebration. He is a gifted pianist so I created a display table of four types of cupcakes to look like the treble and bass clef. Cupcakes featured were Butter Baby (Vanilla Cake with Chocolate Frosting), Vanilla Bliss (Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Frosting), Tuxedo (Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Frosting) and Double Up (Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting) - all topped off with a chocolate chip cookie made with milk and white chocolate chips! Two days later, on Sunday morning I brought a two layered chocolate cake filled with strawberries for my First Lady along with chocolate cake pops for her Birthday Celebration. I don't always have an opportunity to see the reaction of guests who have the S'Moore Gifts Experience but I couldn't have been more excited about what I accomplished and am thankful for the chance to play a role in someone's special day.

Get in on the Buzz in the Bakery

Since I'm introducing candy-themed sandwich cookies, here's your chance to participate... comment via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter some of your favorite candies so I can decide which fan favorites will be on the menu for the month of October. Keep in mind that the *sandwich* will be either a sugar, snickerdoodle or chocolate chip cookie, holding together a candy-inspired filling. I'll be taking suggestions until September 21st of this month, so you have plenty of time to decide.

Baby Showers and Reunions...
June kicked off with a big bang! Let's see what the rest of summer brings!

Baby Elijah Hyde - Coming soon!

I just love welcoming new life into the world. And we were honored with the opportunity to be there in spirit at the shower to welcome Baby Elijah Nolan into the world. My best friend from college is going to be an auntie for the first time any day now. She told me that her baby sister wanted S'Moore Gifts to be at the shower and I was more than overjoyed to be apart of the celebration. The expectant mother wanted Red Velvet cheesecake brownies for herself and I created custom sugar cookies for her guests. Some looked like baby buttons, others looked like giraffe spots since she wanted a jungle type theme and others had the letter "E" for his name. Above you can read that someone else enjoyed the brownies as well. I'm so happy that my contribution to their welcoming party was enjoyed and I look forward to visiting Mississippi and meeting my nephew soon.

Lights, Camera, Action: Remix!

Last weekend I celebrated my 10 year class reunion from Cordova High in Rancho Cordova. In high school I was the Senior Class president - I had a lot of school spirit. Part of why I chose to study Hotel and Restaurant Management in college was due to my experience in Student Government while in high school. I enjoyed planning events and I thrived off being apart of the details in creating someone's memories. I had good people around me back then so when it came time to start planning for our 10 year reunion, I reached out to some old friends. After months of deciding where we would go, what we would do... June 15, 2013 finally was here. Our theme was Lights, Camera, Action: This is the Remix! based on Mr.Cheeks hit song from 2002. We took it a step further and decorated our tables with movie posters from our four years (Remember the Titans, Not Another Teen Movie, Drumline, American Wedding) and I created name badges that were *All Access* passes to our VIP event. In addition to the chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal raisin shown here, we had sugar cookies and red velvet cupcakes. At the end of the night we had so much stuff left over, we sent all of our classmates home with as many treats that they wanted and I still came home with an abundance of desserts. I will admit, I overdid it, but I wanted to be sure that we had enough. I'd say that it worked out - my classmates and I partied like we were teens again and everyone had a good time. The picture above is of my friend Samantha and I. She made a beeline to the dessert table as soon as she came in and we talked. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing my classmates in October for the 50th Homecoming! Go, Lancers, Go! Lancers 2003!

Last month I had an opportunity to take the Wilton Method Cake Decorating Class and I am so pleased with the investment I made. I learned new techniques and found my creativity challenged,so with this new knowledge that means greater options for you to treat yourself to! Here's a deluxe version of our Tuxedo cupcake - it has a strawberry filling!

Last month we introduced a new treat to the S'Moore Gifts menu, the Banana Pudding cookie and June won't disappoint either because we're unveiling the Strawberry Blondie. If you're not familiar with the blondie, it's quite similar to a brownie, except there is an abundance of brown sugar in place of cocoa.

Congratulations to the Class of 2013! Graduations are always a great time to celebrate the next step and the next best move for a loved one or yourself. In that spirit of celebration and my 10 year high school reunion, we're offering a Grad Gift special for all Sacramento Class of 2013 graduates - Buy one dozen cupcakes, get a dozen cookies free - Simply mention Grad2013 in your order forms and tag us to a certificate,diploma or degree on either Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (@smooregifts).

Banana Pudding Cookies

Banana Pudding is one of my favorite summer time treats! I know a lot of people make it different ways, and I happen to be on the side that loves the Nilla Wafer box version with a few modifications of course. Anyhow, I am fascinated with making different treats that are inspired by old favorites, so I had been working on a recipe for Banana Pudding cookie for a few months... and I finally figured it out this weekend ...
